Causes and Solutions of Multi-disc Screw Press

1. Screw Press Blockage

Causes:

(1) Large foreign objects entering the screw press.

(2) Excessive sludge volume.

(3) Improper adjustment of the back pressure plate.

Solutions:

(1) Remove large foreign objects promptly and prevent similar objects from entering the screw press.

(2) Decrease the sludge input accordingly.

(3) If the back pressure plate gap is too small, sludge cannot be discharged in time. Increase the gap appropriately.

2. High Moisture Content of Discharged Sludge

Causes:

(1) Low sludge volume.

(2) Poor flocculation effect.

(3) Improper back pressure plate adjustment.

(4) Excessive processing load.

Solutions:

(1) If the sludge volume is low, pre-thicken the sludge before feeding it into the screw press.

(2) The selection and dosage of flocculants must be determined through rigorous testing. Incorrect flocculant type or dosage can impact sludge moisture content.

(3) The back pressure plate should be adjusted with manufacturer guidance, as both too wide and too narrow gaps affect moisture content.

(4) Each screw press has a set processing capacity. Excessive sludge-water mixture entering the press causes water to escape from the discharge port, increasing sludge moisture content.

3. Automatic Operation Failure

Causes:

(1) Motor failure.

(2) Control system issues.

(3) Screw press jamming.

Solutions:

(1) If the motor trips automatically, check for short circuits or burnout and repair as needed.

(2) If the control system malfunctions, inspect the PLC system for damaged components or program errors and repair or reprogram accordingly.

(3) Jamming increases current, leading to automatic shutdown. Check for foreign objects or excessive sludge inside the screw press and clean it if necessary.

4. Spray System Not Working

Solutions:

(1) Check if the water supply is interrupted or if the front-end valve is closed.

(2) If the solenoid valve fails, the spray system will not work. Inspect and replace the faulty solenoid valve.

(3) Clogged spray nozzles due to prolonged use may prevent spraying. Clean or replace the nozzles as needed.

5. Dehydrated Sludge Cake Not Discharging

Causes:

(1) Motor failure.

(2) Screw shaft rotating in reverse.

(3) Improper back pressure plate gap setting.

(4) Poor flocculation effect.

Solutions:

(1) Check if the drive motor is running properly.

(2) If the screw shaft is reversing, check for incorrect wiring.

(3) The back pressure plate gap should be at least 4mm. Adjust if it is too tight.

Select the appropriate flocculant and ensure good flocculation for proper sludge discharge.
