After long-term storage, sewage treatment chemicals are prone to form flocculent colloids, which can easily cause blockage of the dosing pipeline and corrosion of the solenoid valves. This will seriously damage the dosing system and affect the dosing effect. In addition, replacing the corroded solenoid valves will also increase unnecessary maintenance cost. In view of this situation, this article proposes several methods for daily maintenance of sewage dosing system to avoid blockage and corrosion.
1. Existing Problems
Currently, there are two problems with sewage dosing system: blockage and corrosion.
2. Causes and Impact of Blockage
There are two causes for blockage in the dosing system: one is the long-term retention of flocculants, and the other is the blockage caused by flocculants quality issues. Blockage of the dosing pipeline will cause adverse effects on dosing. In severe cases, the entire dosing system will be blocked.
2.1 Long-term Retention of Flocculants
The dosing of flocculants is not continuous. When the dosing is stopped, there will be residual flocculants in the pipeline. Over time, the residual flocculants will form jelly-like floccules. The floccules have strong adhesion ability and will adhere to the dosing line for a long time. It is very difficult to remove them, thus causing blockage.
After each dosing, some flocculants will remain in the tank and cannot be fully discharged. In this way, the residual flocculants in the dosing tank will also form floccules. After a long time of accumulation, as the floccules increase to a certain height, they will block the outlet of the dosing tank and the liquid level gauge of the storage tank, causing liquid level gauge fault.
2.2 Impact of Flocculant Quality
The flocculant quality is also an important factor causing blockage. We found that poor quality flocculants will directly condense in the storage tank during the dosing process and form some floccules. These floccules will block the dosing pipeline and the outlet of the storage tank. In serious cases, the floccules will enter the dosing pump and block it. Since the dosing pump is a special equipment, its maintenance is very complicated. Generally, the dosing pump needs to be repaired by the manufacturer. This is time-consuming and labor-intensive, which will seriously affect the dosing process.
3. Causes and Consequences of Corrosion
Causes: Corrosion problems generally exist on the solenoid valves of the dosing system. During the dosing process, the flocculants and impurities remaining in the solenoid valves will corrode the.
Consequences: During the operation of the dosing system, the fault of the solenoid valve may cause the dosing system to stop operating. This will shorten the servile lift of the solenoid valves and cause certain economic losses.
4. Problem Solving
The purpose of sewage dosing is to improve water quality. The effect of dosing directly affects the improvement of water quality. Therefore, in order to ensure the smooth flow of the dosing system, the daily maintenance of the sewage dosing system is very important. According to the characteristics of sewage treatment flocculants, the following methods can be taken to maintain the dosing system.
4.1 Regarding the Characteristics of Long-term Storage of flocculants to Form Colloids
The solution is to add clean water for 8 hours after each dosing, and start the stirring pump to dilute the residual flocculants. First, dilute the residual flocculants at the bottom of the dosing tank. Second, clean the the dosing system pipeline. Finally, rinse the tank and pipeline completely with clean water.
4.2 Regarding the Quality Issues of the Flocculants
Encrypt the filter screen between the storage tank and the dosing pump (the encrypted filter screen can be disassembled and replaced). The purpose of this is: once poor quality flocculants are used, the encrypted filter screen will be blocked first, causing abnormal operation of the pump. After workers discovered it during the inspection, they will stop dosing, which will protect the dosing pump, and also prevent unqualified flocculants from entering the dosing pipeline and blocking the entire dosing system.
4.3 Regarding the Corrosion of the Solenoid Valves
Since the solenoid valves are detachable components, they can be disassembled regularly to clean the impurities accumulated inside them, which can effectively reduce the corrosion. and prolong the service life.
5. Conclusion
In the process of sewage treatment, dosing is a necessary means to ensure that the water quality meets the standards. In the sewage treatment system, since the dosing system is not operated every day, the workers pay little attention to its maintenance. But once a problem occurs, it will affect the water quality. Therefore, in daily work, the dosing system should be regularly maintained to ensure the smooth operation of dosing system.
